Most Used Platforms

The top three most used platforms are Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.  I use each of these often but for different reasons.  I use Facebook for my social media class and for keeping in contact with my family and friends who don’t live close to me.  After high school, you just don’t see and talk with your friends anymore.  Facebook is a great way to keep up with what your old friends are doing.  It seems like Facebook has really attracted the older generations.  My grandparents were able to connect with people they went to high school with.  That kind of communication was not available to them when they were younger but they love that they have it now. 

YouTube is very popular and is really for anyone.  Many people, like myself, use YouTube to learn how to do things.  For instance, I use it constantly to teach myself new songs on the guitar.  I was also talking to my friend the other day who said he used YouTube to learn how to cook.  YouTube is also for the people who have the talent and want to share it.  

Last but not least, Instagram. I personally use Instagram the most.  I post pictures of all my vacations for my friends and family to look at.  It’s way easier to post a picture than to individually send the pictures in text messages to everyone who wants to see.  A lot of people that I follow on Instagram seem to use this platform as a journal.  They can post pictures or videos and then write a story about them.  I also know a lot of people who have little kids that takes tons of pictures. The messages underneath the pictures are normally written to the little babies.  I think that the parents hope that when the kids get older they can look at the pictures and know how much their parents loved them.
